Patient Extricated at Early Morning Wreck

Just after mid-night on Monday Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was dispatched to a single vehicle wreck on Highway 690 (Main Street) just outside of Vass. First arriving units reported a high-impact wreck with a vehicle striking a tree head-on with one occupant pinned in the drivers seat.
Engine 211 and Rescue 219 blocked established a safe working zone by closing Highway 690 and then started extrication. Medic 28 was assigned patient care as the doors were forced open and then the dash and steering column were moved from the occupants right leg.
After extrication was completed the patient was transported by EMS Medic 30 to a landing zone for Air Care to fly the patient to a trauma center. The landing zone was established by Southern Pines and Cypress Pointe personnel, Crains Creek Fire Department was also dispatched as a second rescue due to the pin-in.
