On Sunday Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue and the North Carolina Forestry Service were dispatched to an outside fire on Pats Road. As units arrived the found a rapidly burning fire that would eventually burn over three acres. Due to the lack of substantial rain, dry and windy conditions the fire showed some erratic behavior.
An additional brush truck from Crains Creek Fire Department was requested to assist with controlling the blaze. The Forestry Service utilized a plow to cut a break around the burning area and then back-fired some unburned area to remove fuel from the path of the fire.
