Wreck Diverts Traffic on U.S. 1

A three vehicle accident on U.S. 1 closed the north bound lanes and for approximately an hour. As the call was being dispatched responding units were advised that there was possibly a victim pinned-in one of the vehicles.
The dispatch included: Engine 211 and Heavy Rescue 219 from Station 1, Rescue 229 from Station 2, Medic 28, Medic 40, Medic 80, EMS Supervisor 1 and Southern Pines Heavy Rescue 819 due to the possible pin-in. The Moore County Sheriff's Office and Vass Police assisted with closing U.S. 1 and traffic control. UNC Air Care was requested but was unable to fly due to weather.
Engine 211 arrived on-scene and reported three vehicles with heavy damage had wreck and after closer investigation reported that no one was pinned-in.
Three patients were transported to the hospital by Moore County EMS Medic's 40 and 80.
This wreck is being investigated by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
