By Department Chief Mike Cameron
September 29, 2019

Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue, Southern Pines Fire/Rescue, Whispering Pines Fire/Rescue and Moore County EMS were dispatched to an early morning structure fire on Pine Lake Drive off of U.S. Highway 1. An off-duty Aberdeen Police Officer on his way home after his shift directed responders into the structure fire and insured everyone was out of the residents.
Upon the arrival of the first units they reported a heavily involve structure with a car on fire and some additional exposures in the path of the fire.
It was also determined that the occupant of the residences had been burned and required treatment by EMS, he was transported to the hospital and later transferred to the UNC Burn Center for further treatment.
CPFR Engine 211 arrived and deployed two attack lines and immediately started attacking the fire. CPFR Tanker 246 arrived and supplied additional water to E-211 while SPFD Engine 822 laid a supply line from the closest hydrant. The power company was contacted due to a live power line that had fallen in the front and was hampering the fire attack.
Crews from Whispering Pines and Southern Pines relieved CPFR staff and assisted with extinguishing the remaining fire.
Moore County Public Safety completed the Fire Investigation.
