Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue and automatic aid partner Crains Creek Fire Department were dispatched to 533 Byrd Road for a mobile home fire.
Upon the arrival of Engine 221 they reported light smoke showing from a single-wide mobile home, they determined that all of the occupants were out of the house and then advanced an attack line through the front door, where they encountered a couch and wall on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by the initial attack line. However, considerable salvage and overhaul was conducted to ensure that the fire was out and further extension of the fire did not take place into other areas of the house. The couch was removed and walls were opened up to extinguish any remaining embers.
Additionally, occupant requested belongings were removed at their request to make sure damage was not done to unreplaceable possessions.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family with a temporarily place to stay and other belongings.
The Moore County Fire Marshal's Office conducted a Cause and Origin Investigation and determined that the cause was accidental. Moore County EMS assisted with firefighter rehab.
