Highway Safety Campaign

Moore County is currently in the un-enviable position of leading the state in vehicle fatalities for 2014. Moore County has had 23 wreck related fatalities and of those 8 have been in the Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue District.
In an effort garner public attention, several agencies established a Traffic Education Check Point on Highway 690 at the U.S. 1 By Pass on October 24, 2014.
Agencies handed out flyers that addressed many of the issues that have lead to vehicle fatalities in our area, such as drinking and driving, texting, speeding, distracted drivers and reckless driving.
The agencies that participated were: Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue, Moore County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina Highway Patrol, Vass Police Department as well as Boles Funeral Home and Oakley's Towing.

We encourage everyone, to slow down and stay focused when driving a vhecilke.
