Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue and the North Carolina Forestry Service were dispatched to a woods fire on Cypress Church Road on Memorial Day.
The first arriving units reported a rapidly moving woods fire that involved between 3 and 4 acres. Brush Trucks 217 and 248 were used on initial attack on the flanks of the fire. Tanker 216 filled brush trucks and Battalion 21 requested Crains Creek Fire Department for Tanker 236 which also filled brush trucks which continuously attacked the fire to knock down the head fire.
Upon the arrival of the plow for the Forestry Service, all brush trucks were pulled out of the woods while a line was plowed around the fire.
The fire was brought under control within about two hours.

The current dry conditions are making Wildland Fires more unpredictable and dangerous. Please do not leave outside fires unattended.
The cause of this fire is under investigation.
