Just after 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday night Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue along with our automatic aid partners Carthage Fire/Rescue and Whispering Pines Fire/Rescue were dispatched to a residents on Henderson Road for a possible structure fire.
Upon the arrival of Engine 211 they reported nothing showing and then met with the occupant. The occupant had inadvertently left the stove on after dinner and was preparing for bed when he smelled smoke. As entered the kitchen he realized that his stove was on fire. He called 911 and get a garden hose from outside to slow the forward progression of the fire down. Fortunately, he was able to control the fire. Fire personnel investigated to insure there was no remaining fire and removed the damaged stove from the residents.
As a reminder, we encourage everyone to invest in working smoke detectors and check your detectors twice a year. Replace detectors that are 10 years old or older. Also, fighting an uncontrolled fire is dangerous we strongly encourage everyone with a fire to call 911 and evacuate to house immediately.
