On Saturday afternoon, Cypress Pointe and the North Carolina Forestry Service were dispatched to a grass fire threatening a mobile home. Prior to units arriving the dispatch center received another call reporting that the mobile home was on fire.
A full structural response was requested since the grass fire was involving a mobile home. As units from Cypress Pointe arrived they reported a rapidly moving grass fire that was also burning under the mobile home.
An aggressive attack was made under the mobile home while other units attacked the grass fire. The grass fire was extinguished quickly with the mobile home fire being knocked down quickly however there was extension into the walls of the mobile home. Fire personnel opened up the exterior wall to finish extinguishing the fire as well as ejected smoke from the interior.
The fire was cause when the neighbor was burning a Christmas Tree in his back yard and the fire spread faster than he could control it. The mobile home was a vacant rental property.
Mutual aid departments were cancelled prior to arriving on-scene.
