Honoring Captain Phillips

On Friday, Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was honored to recognize Captain Samuel Phillips which was a U.S. Marine Helicopter Pilot that was one of four Marines killed in a helicopter crash on a training mission in Southern California. Captain Phillips is originally from Pinehurst North Carolina.
Captain Phillips body was flown from California to Raleigh-Durham International Airport where he was met by his family, a Marine Honor Guard, members of the North Carolina Highway Patrol and the Patriot Guard.
His body was transported by Boles Funeral Home to their facility in Southern Pines. He was accompanied by his family, and the Patriot Guard and escorted by the Highway Patrol.
Cypress Pointe had the honor of showing our respect for this fallen hero at three over passes: N.C. 24/27, Highway 690 and James Street overpasses. At each overpass the crew unveiled an American Flag to show our respect for Captain Phillips and his serves to the United States.
