Saturday night Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire in our Harnett County Fire District on Lizzie Jeter Road. Additional automatic aid departments included: Benhaven Fire Department, Crains Creek Fire Department, Spout Springs Fire Department and Harnett County EMS also responded.
Engine 214 arrived to find a well involved fire in a vacant structure with portions of the roof already collapsing. Crews initially deployed a attack lines in a defensive attack from the exterior of the structure in an effort to bring the fire under control.
This area does not have hydrants so tankers were use to shuttle water to the fire engine from hydrants located on Highway 24/27. The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes but firefighters remained on-scene for another hour extinguishing hot spots.
