Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was dispatched to two separate car fires within 24 hours on Monday.
The first fire was at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Monday morning and it was several hundred yards off of Highway 690. Due to the distance from the road and the terrain fire department had to use a brush truck to get to the fire. The occupants of the car had driven off road to fish at a local pond when the car became stuck in an over grown area and caught fire.
The second fire was at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Shaw Road. The occupant of the car was having car problems, the car was cutting off and sputtering when the engine compartment caught fire. The fire department was dispatched and upon the arrival of Engine 211 they reported fire in the engine compartment and passenger compartment. The fire department quickly knocked the fire down and then extinguished the fire.
No one was injured in either fire.
