On August 22, 2018 Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was dispatched to a vehicle fire on U.S. 1 near Youngs Road.
While enroute to the incident, responding units were advised that the fire was involving a loaded hay trailer. Due to the heavy fire load a tanker was requested to respond from Southern Pines Fire/Rescue.

Upon the arrival of the first responding units they reported a working fire involving a hay trailer with fire impinging on a pick-up truck. The vehicle was off- the side of the road but due to the intense flames U.S. 1 North Bound was closed. The Moore County Sheriff's Office and Vass Police Department blocked U.S. 1 and diverted traffic away from the fire, giving the fire department room to work. There were also multiple spot fires along U.S. 1 were burning hay had fallen off of the trailer.
Engine 211 arrived and put an attack line in-service, trying to push the fire off of the burning truck. The spot fires were assigned to Tanker 816 from Southern Pines. As other crews arrived a second hand-line was deployed to assist with extinguishment. The entire trailer was unloaded and the smoldering hay was extinguished as it was unloaded.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol, North Carolina Department of Transportation and Oakley's Towing also responded.
