On Saturday multiple departments from both Moore and Lee Counties responded to a well involved residential structure fire within the rural district of the Carthage Fire Department.
Upon the arrival of the first Carthage Fire Engine they reported heavy fire conditions in a large two story residential structure with a basement. The dispatch center also reported that at least one dog was in the attached garage and that the occupants were out of town. Initial efforts were directed at removing the dogs from the house and then a defensive attack was initiated from the first arriving engine.
This area of the Carthage Fire District is considered a rural area and the closest fire hydrant is over a mile away. Additional tankers were requested for a water shuttle as well as a Tower Truck to allow for suppression of a large volume of fire.
A driveway lay was utilized to supply both the first-in engine and the tower.
There were no injuries at this fire and the fire is under investigation by the Moore County Fire Marshal's Office.
