On Tuesday night Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was dispatched to a tractor and trailer fire in the 5000 block of U.S. 1 near Dunrovin Country Store.
Due to the heavy fire involvement of the truck and the wind blowing embers toward several buildings along U.S. 1 Southern Pines Fire/Rescue was requested to respond with an engine. Cypress Pointe responded with 2 engines, 2 tankers, a Heavy Rescue and 15 personnel.
The trailer was hauling live chickens, the first arriving engine deployed two attack lines, one from either side of the truck. They kept the fire from spreading to the trailer and were able to achieve a fire knock down soon after arriving.
The Moore County Sheriff's Office, the North Carolina Highway Patrol and Moore County EMS also responded. The USDA came to the scene to evaluate the chickens before being transported by another truck.
