Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue and Moore County EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle wreck on U.S. 15-501 near Cameron. The vehicle had two passengers and both of them had significant trauma so two medical transport helicopters were requested and Carthage Fire/Rescue was requested to establish a landing zone for the helicopters.
Neither patient was pinned-in or entrapped but needed assistance getting away from the vehicle due to an embankment, a Moore County Sheriff's Office Deputy helped move the patients. Moore County EMS treated the patients on-site and the flight crew came to the scene to assist with treatment. CPFR personnel drove the ambulances to the landing zone and assisted with loading the patients in the helicopters.
The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
