Recently Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was awarded a Disaster Recovery Grant from the Golden LEAF Foundation. The grant allow CPFR to replace the roof on Fire Station 1.
Station 1 started having roof issues during Hurricane Florence and even with minor repairs and patches being applied to the roof we were unable to control the leaks. The Golden LEAF Foundation provide $63,450.00 to replace the entire roof.
The successful bidder for the project was Integrity Metal Roofs, they removed the roof in sections which allowed the fire department to continue our normal operations during the replacement project. Both the roof and all of the insulation were replaced in just under two weeks.
Below is a statement from the Golden LEAF Foundation on how the Grant Program Works.

The Disaster Recovery Grant Program is funded through appropriations by the State of North Carolina to the Golden LEAF Foundation to make grants to governmental entities and 501(c)(3) nonprofits to repair or replace infrastructure and equipment damaged or destroyed by Hurricanes Matthew, Florence, Michael, and Dorian. Funds may also be used to construct new infrastructure for hazard mitigation. To date, Golden LEAF has awarded more than $103 million in disaster recovery projects from the $114.5 million in state appropriations for the program.
