Just after 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night Cypress Pointe was dispatched to U.S. 1 North Bound just outside of Vass for a single vehicle accident.
Engine 211 and Rescue 219 arrived to find a pick-up truck in the roadway with significant damage to the front-end of the truck. The patient was conscious and alert but appeared to be very agitated. The Sheriff's Office took the driver into custody and then he was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
The driver had left a path of damage for approximately 3 miles prior to coming to a stop on U.S. Highway 1. He hit multiple mail boxes and guard rails from Crains Creek Road down U.S. 1 Business through the Town of Vass and onto U.S. 1 By-Pass. At some point he flatten both front tire and continued to drive.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol in investigation this wreck.
