Single Vehicle Accident Requires Air Care

Sunday morning at approximately 6:30 a.m. CPFR and EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the area of U.S. 1 Highway and Horse Pen Lane. When Engine 211 and Heavy Rescue 219 arrived they reported a car had left the roadway and struck several trees, both of the occupants were out of the vehicle. One occupant had minor injuries while the driver had multiple injuries and fading in and out of consciousness.
It was quickly determined that the driver would need to be flown to a trauma center, UNC Air Care was requested and they were landed at the Baseball Field in Vass. The patient was transported to the baseball field by Moore County EMS and care was transferred to the Air Care crew. The other patient was transported to First Health Moore Reginal for treatment.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this wreck.
