Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue and the Water Rescue Task Force (WRTF) participated in a Human Remains Detection Seminar this week that was hosted by North Carolina State Emergency Management and coordinated by Moore and Lee Counties Emergency Management Divisions. This exercise was held at Camp Durant Boy Scout Camp in the Eagle Springs Area
This seminar is designed to test K-9 capabilities of locating human remains that are underwater. In many cases when divers or underwater robots are unable to locate a body that is submerged in water, dogs can be used to assist in locating the body.
Cypress Pointe assisted with equipment and personnel and ran approximately 45 exercise a day over a 4 day period to test the K-9's.
