Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue recognized several members for both 2020 and 2021 at our Christmas Party and Awards Ceremony on December 10, 2021.
Because of COVID Restrictions in 2020 we did not recognize award recipients publicly, below is a list of those that received awards for Certifications Obtained, Years of Service, Unit Citation Awards, Life Saves, Volunteer Fire Firefighter of the Year, Employee of the Year and Officer of the Year.

Unity Citation Awards

The following members were recognized for outstanding company operations on February 3, 2020, for the extrication of a victim pined-in a pick-up truck that was down an embankment at Carthage Street and Pineywood Church Road. The company utilized a winch and chains to stabilize the vehicle before being able to access and remove the patient. Then the same company established their own landing zone for Air Care to transport the patient.

This Unity Citation was presented to the following members for outstanding company operations on January 20, 2021. For the extrication of a victim pinned-in a vehicle, up-side down on Lobelia Road. This extrication was complex due to the positioning of the vehicle and difficulties stabilizing the vehicle before removing the roof and support post to gain access to the patient.

On July 7, 2021, CPFR personnel were dispatched to a warehouse fire at Carolina Create and Pallet Company. Upon our arrival it was determined that there was heavy fire involvement with rapid spread within the warehouse. Aggressive tactics and instantaneous supplemental water supply allow the spread of the fire to be stopped and finally extinguished.
This Unit Citation is presented to the following members: Fire Chief Mike Cameron, Deputy Fire Chief’s David Collins, Jonathan Richardson, Captain’s Brian Atkins, Adam Ferguson, Gary Godfrey, Lieutenant Matt Black, Firefighters Bill Britton, Bradley Dick, Chris Churchborne, Jacob Hildebrand, Bert Jackson, Joe Kennerly, Andrew Miller, Jerry Moore, Brandon Morris, Nate Pedersen, Jesse Rogers, Ken Skipper, Frank Staples, Cole Thomas, Chris Umland.

Life Saving Awards
On June 30, 2019, Cypress Pointe along with Moore County EMS were dispatched to the 4000 block of Union Church Road for a medical call where the Chief Complaint was General Weakness. While units were enroute the 911 caller witness the victim go into Cardiac Arrest and stop breathing. Upon the arrival of Captain Gary Godfrey, Firefighters Rudy Allgood, Bradley Dick and Joe Kennerly as well as EMS, CPR was started immediately. As the patient was transported to the hospital, he regained consciousness and was later discharged and has since made a full-recovery.

On June 26, 2021, Cypress Pointe along with Moore County EMS were dispatched to an Overdose. Upon the arrival of responders, they located a male victim that was not breathing with by-standers doing CPR. CPFR Deputy Chief Jonathan Richardson and Firefighter Chris Gregory took over CPR while Narcan was administered. CPFR continued CPR in the ambulance and drove the patient to the hospital where he made a full recover.

2020 Volunteer of the Year
Firefighter Tami Ditchen – In 2020 Tami responded to 342 Calls which equates to 34% of the total call volume. She also had a 170 Training Hours. Tami is always willing to lend a helping hand with any project and spends numerous hours at the fire station training and developing her skills. Tami has received her Firefighter Certification and EMT Certification.

2020 Employee of the Year
Lieutenant Matt Black – In 2020 Lieutenant Black responded to 417 Calls or 41% of our call volume. Matt also had 373 Training Hours during 2020. Matt has developed into a strong incident commander and can manage complex incidents without outside intervention.

2020 Officer of the Year
Lieutenant Holden Hall – Lieutenant Hall responded to 360 Calls or 35% or our overall call volume in 2020. He also received 177 Training Hours. Holden brings an excellent attitude to everything he does; he truly understands what it means to be a Public Servant and always strives to put others above himself.

2021 Volunteer of the Year
Firefighter Gerald Martin - Gerald is always dependable and willing to pitch-in any where he is needed. Gerald can be requested at a moment's notice to help with moving apparatus for maintenance or to cover a Driver/Operators position and he always shows up when needed.

2021 Employee of the Year
Firefighter Jesse Rogers – Jesse responded to 359 Calls or 36% of our call volume in 2021. He also had 143 Training Hours. Jesse always brings a great attitude to work; he cares about those that he works with and is always willing to go above and beyond.

2021 Officer of the Year
Captain Gary Godfrey – Captain Godfrey is the "Glue" that holds many shifts and people together. He is loved and respected by everyone around him. Captain Godfrey responded to 217 Calls, or 22% of our call volume to date in 2021 and has gotten 106 Training Hours.
