Over the weekend the nice weather brought many people outside to enjoy the sunshine. But with the nice weather came steady wind with significant wind gusts and low humidity. While many people enjoy these nice weather conditions, the same conditions are right for outside fires that spread quickly.
This past weekend CPFR responded to multiple outside fires that not only burned land but in several instances, damaged residents or destroyed vehicles. All of these fires were related to open burning or controlled burns that escaped the control of the responsible party.
We encourage everyone to evaluate the weather and location of a control burn before starting the fire and make sure that you have water available to control the fire.
