Units from Cypress Pointe responded to a wreck at the intersection of Youngs Road and U.S. 1 involving a minivan and a tractor trailer. A second recue was dispatched from Southern Pines due to the possibility of a pin-in. Upon the arrival of responding units, it was determined that there was no pin-in, but the driver of the minivan was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
One of the fuel tanks on the tractor and trailer was damaged causing a diesel fuel leak. The fuel spill was initially controlled by fire department staff, N.C. DOT was requested to help control the spill and provide additional clean up.
The N.C. Highway Patrol investigated the incident.
