On Thursday night CPFR and our automatic aid partners Carthage Fire Department, Whispering Pines Fire Department and Moore County EMS were dispatched to a structure fire on Samuel Medlin Road in Cameron.
An off-duty Fire Captain arrived shortly after the dispatch and reported a working fire in a small outbuilding but endangering a larger enclosed barn with an equipment shed.
Due to the rural area and the potential for a large fire loss an additional tanker was requested from Crains Creek Fire Department to supplement water supply.
Engines 211 and 213 arrived within minutes of one another and started fire attack on the large barn where fire had gotten into the building, they also attacked the small shed which had mostly been consumed by the fire.
Carthage Engine 311 arrived and was assigned water supply with the help of Tanker 226, a drop tank was set-up and tankers worked to maintain a constant flow of water from a hydrant approximately half-a mile away.
The fire in the large building was quickly knocked down saving thousands of dollars of equipment and family heirlooms.
Once the large barn fire was knocked down and the focus moved to the smaller shed, firefighters worked to uncover hot spots and extinguish the remining fire.
This fire is under investigation by the Moore County Fire Marshal's Office and the Moore County Sheriff's Office.
There were no injuries during this incident.
