Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue recently responded to a structure fire in the Woodlake Community. Upon arrival, it was determined that the fire was located on the rear deck of the residence.

The early morning fire was first noticed by a neighbor, who immediately called 911 and alerted the sleeping family. Thanks to the quick actions of the neighbor and the residents, who used a garden hose and buckets, the fire was kept from spreading into the house.

When the first CPFR engine arrived on scene, crews deployed a fire attack line and quickly brought the fire under control.

The cause of the fire was determined to be a charcoal grill that had been used the previous evening and left on the deck.

Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue would like to remind all residents to ensure grills are fully extinguished and cooled before being left unattended and never store or operate them on combustible surfaces or near combustibles.

Also responding to this incident were Crains Creek Fire Department, Moore County EMS and the Moore County Sheriff's Office.
