Just before 5:00 p.m. CPFR and Moore County EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle wreck on Cypress Church Road. Upon the arrival of our first fire engine the crew reported a car upside down off the roadway with the driver (only occupant) still in the car. Crews gained access to the patient which was determined to be still in the vehicle set upside down being held in place by her seat belt. Fortunately for the patient the seat belt was doing its job and keeping her from being thrown around the inside of the vehicle or worse yet, being ejected from the vehicle. A quick assessment of the patient was completed, and the incident commander requested a medical helicopter due to the "mechanism of injury". The patient was removed from the vehicle and transported to the helicopter landing zone, ultimately it was decided not to transport the patient to a trauma center, she was transported to First Health of the Carolina's - Pinehurst by EMS.
