Just after 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was requested to respond as a second rescue unit to a motor vehicle accident initially reported in Lee County on South Plank Road. Upon arrival, it was determined that the incident was actually located in Moore County, as South Plank Road runs along the county line.

The CPFR rescue unit was requested due to a teenage girl being trapped beneath the cab of an overturned pickup truck. Cypress Pointe personnel, working in coordination with Lemon Springs Fire Department, utilized rescue jacks, cribbing, and winch equipment to lift the vehicle and safely extricate the patient.

There were two other occupants in the truck, but they were able to self-extricate, one of them was also taken to the hospital.

The patient remained conscious and talking throughout the extrication process. She was transported by Lee County EMS to a designated landing zone, where Air Care was waiting to transport her to a trauma center for further treatment.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this wreck.
