Just prior to 3:00 a.m. on Monday morning CPFR and Moore County EMS were dispatched to a wreck on U.S. 1 Bypass near the Highway 690 overpass in Vass.
Upon the arrival of Engine 211 they located a pick-up in the north bound lane on the by-pass with significant damage after striking the barrier cable in the median.
There was no one around the truck, however the driver was located a short time later walking north on U.S. 1 Bypass. He was evaluated by EMS and declined further medical treatment.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
