At approximately 1:00 p.m., Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue (CPFR), Moore County EMS, and the Vass Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. 1 Business and Vass-Carthage Road for a reported vehicle accident. A witness had observed a car leave the roadway, disappear into the trees, and come to rest near the top of a retaining wall.

Upon arrival, CPFR units determined that the vehicle had run through the stop sign on Vass-Carthage Road, crossed U.S. 1 Business, and entered a wooded area behind the Citgo store across from Vass-Carthage Road.

CPFR personnel located the car with the driver attempting to exit the vehicle. CPFR and EMS crews assisted the driver out safely. It was later determined the driver may have experienced a medical issue prior to the crash. She was transported to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The Vass Police Department is investigating the incident.
