Monday night Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was dispatched to an outside fire on Crystal Lake Drive in the community of Lakeview that was endangering an outbuilding. While our equipment and personnel were responding the alarm was upgraded to a structure fire response. The outside fire had spread into the nearby woods and set the building on fire. The upgraded response received apparatus and personnel from Southern Pines Fire/Rescue, Whispering Pines Fire/Rescue, the N.C. Forestry Service, Moore County EMS and the Moore County Sheriff's Office. Upon the arrival of our first-in engine they reported a large volume of fire on three sides of the structure and the roof of the structure was also on fire with the fire spreading into the woods. An initial attack line was deployed and the fire was attacked while moving the line to multiple locations to slow the progression of the fire. Simultaneously, 200 feet of large diameter hose was pulled from the engine drug to the closest hydrant for water supply. A second line was quickly deployed after that to bring additional fire flow to knock down the fire. Southern Pines was assigned the interior of the structure, they quickly entered the building and worked to knock down the interior fire. Whispering Pines was assigned to one side of the building for fire attack and the woods fire which they were able to quickly bring under control. N.C. Forestry Service conducted the fire investigation and determined that the fire had come from debris burning on the occupant's property.
