Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue, Carthage Fire/Rescue, Moore County EMS, Sheriff's Office and Fire Marshal were dispatched just after 1:00 a.m. to a structure fire at the intersection of U.S. 15-501 and Bryant Road. A passerby notified 911 that the rear of the Trax Convenient Store was on fire. As fire units arrived they reported a working fire in the rear of the building which appeared to be burning from the exterior of the building to the interior. Carthage fire personnel knocked the fire down on the exterior of the building and Cypress Pointe personnel forced the main doors open to gain access to the fire on the interior of the structure. The fire was extinguished on the interior and overhaul was conducted to insure that there were no remaining hot spots that could rekindle. Fire damage was limited to the rear wall, smoke damage was throughout the store area. However, due to early notification by the public and a quick response by both Carthage and Cypress Pointe Fire Departments extensive damage was prevented. This fire is being investigated by the Moore County Fire Marshal's Office.
