| On Monday and Tuesday of this week the Water Rescue Task Force conducted Swift Water Training for their members. Training included: throw bags, patient recovery, self-recovery (blowout), rock pick-offs, boat operations, and rescuer recovery's.
Swift Water rescue work is considered to be technical in nature and is designed to rescue or recover victims from rapidly moving water that is under pressure. Swift water may be in flood prone areas or rivers that have what is considered to be "white water". Swift water rescue involves the use of specially trained personnel, ropes and mechanical advantage systems that are often much more complex than those used in standard rope rescue. The main goal is to use or deflect the water’s power to assist in the rescue of the endangered victims as in most situations there is no easy way to overcome the power of the water.
The Moore County Water Rescue Task Force is equipped and supported by Moore County Public Safety and staffed by members of several of the Moore County Fire Departments. Cypress Pointe has 12 members on the Task Force. |
