On Sunday, Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue joined multiple fire departments from Raleigh to Pinehurst in a tribute ride honoring U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Garrett Illerbunn of the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade.
Chief Illerbunn was injured in a drone attack in Afghanistan several months ago and, after extensive treatment, is returning home. Upon his arrival in Pinehurst, he was honored with a Final Flight Ceremony celebrating his retirement, surrounded by family, friends, and community members.
Congratulations, Chief Illerbunn, on your recovery and retirement!
